DC SCORES creates neighborhood teams that give kids in need the confidence and skills to succeed on the playing field, in the classroom, and in life. DC SCORES envisions a DC where every child – no matter their family income – experiences the joys of childhood: sports, arts, service, and being part of a team. Where every child – no matter their family circumstances – is empowered to find academic success and grow into an emotionally and physically healthy teen and adult. Where every neighborhood supports and celebrates its children and their accomplishments on and off the playing field.

Higher Achievement believes that talent is everywhere but opportunity is not. For more than 40 years, our program has closed the opportunity gap during the pivotal middle school years. Higher Achievement annually offers over 600 hours of year-round, academic enrichment and mentoring to 500 DC area middle schoolers to promote academic gains and leadership. By leveraging the power of communities, Higher Achievement's proven model provides a rigorous learning environment, caring role models, and a culture of high expectations, resulting in college-bound scholars with the character, confidence, and skills to succeed. On average, 95% of our scholars graduate high school on time.
