All scholars at Ida B. Wells participate in a challenging and supportive academic program daily, including courses in English/Language Arts, Mathematics, World Geography, Earth Science, and Specials such as Music, Art, and Spanish. Scholars also participate in small group Level Up (enrichment) courses to strengthen academic skills.

Pre-Advanced Placement Classes

Scholars at Wells benefit from the opportunity to take and excel in accelerated academic classes. Students who successfully complete advanced classes are on track to begin Advanced Placement courses in high school!

1:1 Technology



Each scholar at Wells is assigned a Surface Go to use at school. These devices support all students in accessing the curriculum in Math, English, Social Studies, and Science. They also provide new research opportunities, personalized learning, and new academic horizons.

Co-Teaching Model



Every content course (Math, English, Social Studies, and Science) has at least two qualified teachers of record. Teachers plan together to maximize learning for all students at all times. This allows teachers to work with smaller groups and to give students more individualized support.
